Took this pic last year down in Kerry. Just wondering where exactly do they expect you to do your business?

Editorial Note 4

April 16, 2009

Last year we decided to go to The Electric Picnic festival for the first time and a great time we had at it. However, by and large, the toilet facilities were not the best by any stretch of the imagination. We stayed on the camping site at the entrance which was great and quiet and the toilet in the pic were the closest to us. Couldn’t use them after the first day as they were minging.

I know its a festival but its no reason to not have a company clean the toilets once over the weekend. These basically are a hole that you do your business into. The smell was outrageous and even if they had someone in to empty the toilets on the Saturday evening while most were inside the festival, that would have been acceptable. But it didn’t happen and by the Sunday the place was minging. Really minging.

There were other toilets around but some were pay toilets, some were small and queues huge and others inside. But these were disgusting and lord help anyone who camped near them as you could smell the shite from 400 yards.

With the festival lineup announced for ‘09 and tickets on sale lets hope a small bit more thought goes into such an essential item as you wont find food stalls running out of food or the Heineken tent running out of beer but to have rank, almost unusable, toilets at such a great event does leave a bad thought.

Ratings (marks out of 10)
Area Cleanliness: 7
Smell/Odour: 7
Running Water: 6 (really dislike the taps and water pressure here)
Hand wash/Soap: 6
Hand dryer/towels: 6
Toilet paper: 8
State of the floor: 8
State of the toilet: 5 (one toilet seat seems permanently broken)
Toilet checklist: 0 (have not seen one)

Other: Toilets are quite cramped and small Bonus points: -1

Total Score: 52

Overall comments: Toilets are always in a good state though one toilet seat seems to always be broken and the light is poor in the cubicle. The toilets are compact and on Saturday nights 5 people in here cause problems. Overall nice, clean toilets and well kept.
